- 1Check how you can get it. Alexa+ launched free for Prime subscribers and at $19.99 a month for everyone else. Since August 2026 it is also free on compatible Fire TVs without Prime.
- 2Use it on a device you own. On the new Alexa Tablets you say Alexa or tap the Ask Alexa button, and it appears on top of whatever app you are in.
- 3Choose your assistant. The Verge reports you can switch the tablet's assistant to Google's Gemini in settings.
- 4Be careful with screen access. Alexa+ has an opt-in feature that lets it look at what is on your screen. Leave it off unless you want it.
- 5Do not rush to replace your Fire TV Stick. The Alexa+ upgrade for Fire TV is a software rollout starting in November 2026, reaching newer existing devices as well as new ones.
- 6Know what Bee Pro adds. Bee Pro costs $11.99 a month and links your Bee conversation notes to Alexa+ and Amazon.com. Skip it if you do not use Bee.
Alexa+ is Amazon's generative-AI version of Alexa. It replaced the old command-and-response model with multi-turn conversations that do not need the wake word every time. Here is what it costs and where it runs.
What it costs
- Prime members: free.
- Everyone else: $19.99 a month.
